Poppa Peper’s Super Simple Applesauce
Enough to fill a pot of your choice
Use your favorite variety. My Dad’s top picks include Stamen, McIntosh, Granny Smith and Rome.
Use as needed
Peel and chop enough apples to fill a pot of your choosing. The pieces should be about 1-2 inch cubes.
Place the pot on the stove and add the water as needed to start the sauce.
Bring the apples to a boil as you stir the pot regularly. You can mash the apples as you go with your spoon.
Let the mixture simmer as you continue to stir and mash.
Continue cooking and stirring until the apples are soft and the sauce reaches your desired consistency (the smoother you want your sauce, the longer the cook time and the more you should mash it).
(optional) Add cinnamon to taste.
Enjoy this applesauce warm from the pot once it cools slighty or after it has been refrigerated.
